So this week went by fast. Like really fast. I look back at
the days and it seems as if they were all blurred together. To start off,
Wednesday we were up in Madras which is about 35 min away from here. We workers
hard contacting all day and met some really cool people. But it got to a point
where I was getting really discouraged because of all the people who just shut
us down. As we were driving out, we met a man named Juan Garcia. He told is to
come in and we talked, we taught a little about the Restoration and about what
us church members do. He invited us to come back so all the hard work from that
day ended up paying off. Thursday and Friday to be honest I have no idea what
happened those days. I know we worked hard and I was super tired every day.
Saturday we were back in Madras and same thing. Met a lot of cool people who
all believe in Christ but don't think religion matters. But on our way out of
the city, we saw this guy on the side of the road with his hood up, checking on
his engine. Elder beard and I looked at each other and yet we kept driving, 30
seconds later he turned to me again and said I think we should turn around and
go back. I replied saying I was about to say the same thing. So we turned
around and asked him if he needed help. He said he was fine but was grateful
for our offer. We gave him a pass along card and asked him what his name was…Gregorio.
Elder beard and I have been trying to get a hold of Gregorio for the whole time
we have been here. Coincidence I think not. I know the Lord had a hand in that
while scenario today for p day we haven't done much. Just cleaned the apartment
and hung out with the zone leaders

Howdy,
I am in a place called Redmond, Oregon and it is 30 minutes outside of Bend. We cover 6 areas and so we can drive an hour in either direction and still be in our area. It is about 95 degrees everyday and is hot! I thought I was going to escape the heat! But this place is a perfect mix between Southern Utah and the Canyons. The farmlands are amazing. My favorite place is a small town called Madras because it is so beautiful.
My comp's name is Elder Beard and he has been out for 21 months. He is super obedient and a super hard worker which has made this week great. We have one solid investigator named Antonio who should be getting baptized in the next month. The Latinos here speak very fast and it's been hard to catch on.
President has said he may need me in the English speaking area and if that's what he needs, I will be OK with it. President Tateoka is the most inspired man I have ever met. I love Oregon. I actually have a dishwasher AND a dryer so that is really handy. My district is the best because I have Riley's doppleganger so it feels like home (haha).
I love you and hope you have a wonderful day!

What a roller coaster ride we have been on. I kid you not these last 5-1/2 months have been tiresome for both Meg and I. As a parent you believe you have this ideal vision of your child's life and how it should unfold. Then without notice that picturesque view becomes distorted and painfully confusing. Thank you to all those family members and friends who have reached out and just loved our son. The manner in which he was welcomed home, the guidance offered to console a broken heart, and the countless acts of charity will never be forgotten. We are grateful for modern day medicine and pray fervently for Elder Graybills health as he returns and begins part II of his mission. Prior to resubmitting his papers, he was asked were he would like to go (hinting of a possible return to Colombia). His response was, "this might be my journey in life, but it is through my obedience to Gods will that I will get to where I need to go." Here's to never giving up. God speed my son...
We have not heard from Garrett yet, but here is a letter from President Tateoka. Enjoy

Sister Tateoka and I were so pleased to greet your missionary at the Portland Airport! Attached you will find a photo of your newly arrived missionary. We thank you once again for sending your missionary to us. We will take good care of them and know the sacred trust you place in ourselves and in the Lord.
Kind Regards,
Oregon Salem Mission
